About
The Swansea University International Postgraduate Alumni Bursaries 2025-2026 offer financial support to international alumni who have completed a full degree at Swansea University and are returning for a postgraduate taught or research degree. This bursary provides a tuition fee reduction of £2,200 per year for most programs or £3,000 per year for Science and Engineering programs, applied for the duration of the program, subject to satisfactory academic progression. Swansea University, ranked 298th globally (QS World University Rankings 2025) and among the top 15 for graduate employment in the UK (97% employability, HESA 2023), enrolls approximately 20,000 students across its Singleton Park and Bay campuses in South Wales. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Swansea University International Postgraduate Alumni Bursaries 2025-2026, applicants must:
Be classified as an international student for tuition fee purposes (non-EU alumni, assessed as paying the international fee rate for their most recent postgraduate application).
Have successfully completed a full degree program at Swansea University (e.g., Bachelor’s, Taught Master’s; excludes ‘fall-back’ or exit qualifications like certificates/diplomas).
Hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) to study a postgraduate program starting in September 2025 or January 2026, including:
Taught Master’s: MSc, MA, LLM, MRes (e.g., MSc Computer Science, MA International Relations, LLM International Maritime Law).
Research Degrees: PhD, MPhil, Master’s by Research, Professional Doctorate in eligible fields (e.g., Engineering, Health Sciences).
Be enrolled full-time or part-time (part-time students receive the bursary on a pro-rata basis).
Be privately funded (not receiving full sponsorship from a government, employer, or third-party organization).
Meet the minimum academic requirement for the original degree program (satisfactory completion as per university standards).
Exclusions:
Not available for Exchange, Visiting/Associate, ICWS Pre-Master’s, CELTA, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Legal Practice Course (LPC), or MPhil-to-PhD upgrade students.
Not combinable with other Swansea University scholarships or bursaries (e.g., International Excellence Scholarship, Nepal Bursary) if awarded internally or externally.
Not available for employees of Swansea University.
Not applicable to students whose course fees are below £16,000 or those studying at The College Swansea University.

Application Process
No separate application is required; eligible alumni are automatically considered upon applying for a postgraduate program. Follow these steps:
Apply for a Postgraduate Program:
Submit an application via the Swansea University Learner Gateway (www.swansea.ac.uk/apply) for Taught Master’s or research degrees starting in September 2025 or January 2026.
Required documents:
Academic transcripts from Swansea University (accessed via Learner Gateway) and any prior institutions (in English or with certified translations).
English proficiency test scores (e.g., IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88, or Swansea-approved equivalent).
Personal statement (500–750 words) outlining academic and career goals.
Two letters of recommendation (for postgraduate research programs).
Research proposal (for PhD, MPhil, Master’s by Research, or Professional Doctorate).
Copy of passport (for visa purposes).
Pay a £4,000 tuition fee deposit to secure a place and receive a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
Automatic Consideration: The Postgraduate Admissions Office verifies alumni status and eligibility (international fee status, completion of a full Swansea degree, no external sponsorship) upon offer acceptance.
Notification: Eligible students are informed of the bursary award within their offer letter or via their Swansea University email by August 2025 (September intake) or November 2025 (January intake).
Accept and Enroll:
Accept the program offer and bursary via the Learner Gateway by the deadline in the offer letter (typically August 15, 2025, for September; November 15, 2025, for January).
Enroll and be onshore by the program start date (September 2025 or January 2026) to activate the bursary.
Pay the remaining tuition fees (after bursary deduction) by the first or second instalment deadlines (October 2025 for September intake, February 2026 for January intake).
Note: International students must hold a valid UK student visa and be onshore by the program start date. Apply for a visa by June 2025 (September intake) or September 2025 (January intake) to allow 3–4 months for processing. Contact pgadmissions@swansea.ac.uk for support. If studies are suspended, the bursary is held and carried forward to the resumption year on a pro-rata basis.
